ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Federal Capital Territory Customary Court of Appeal, Utako, Abuja, has introduced a first-of-its-kind Marriage Certificate for persons whose marriages are conducted under native law, custom and tradition anywhere in Nigeria.

The innovative certificate features a unique barcode for digital verification, enabling the authenticity of the certificate to be electronically verified.

The initiative is expected to provide greater formal recognition, documentation and verification of marriages contracted under Nigeria's diverse customary traditions.
